Join Mat Follas, BBC Masterchef Winner 2009 for a foraging course to remember.

Mat comments: We will have a walk along Chesil Beach, Mat will show you how to identify edible plants with confidence. We might find shells, sharks purse, a variety of edible seaweeds and seashore plants before a loo stop and heading off (in own cars).

We'll also explore the hedgerow and fields, finding a variety of wild plants & herbs and talk about how we can cook and use this wonderful bounty and we'll have a snack of some pastries.

Your course will end with a delicious simple lunch, prepared by the team at the Restaurant, inspired by beautiful seasonal produce.

Picture
The Sherborne Steam & Waterwheel Centre houses an extensive collection of Victorian engineering. Central to the display is the massive, 26 foot diameter waterwheel built in 1869, which features the system of ventilated buckets designed by William Fairbairn, but so seriously corroded that it is had to be rebuilt, it is now restored to full working order for the summer programme of open days. Visitors can see the wheel driving a twin cylinder pumpset built in 1883 by Sparrow's of Martock for a local tannery.

Sherborne Old Castle - English Heritage

Picture
Sherborne Old Castle is a romantic 12th-century ruin set in beautiful grounds next to New Sherborne Castle.
After withstanding two sieges during the Civil War, only the Southwest Gatehouse and parts of the castle, including the Great Tower and the North Range, now survive. Loved by Sir Walter Ralegh, he leased the castle but when he was imprisoned in the Tower of London for marrying one of Queen Elizabeth I's maids of honour without her permission, it was then leased out but remained a favourite home of the famous explorer.
